382 – O Day of Rest and Gladness

1
O day of rest and gladness,
O day of joy and light,
O balm of care and sadness,
most beautiful, most bright;
on thee, the high and lowly,
who bend before throne,
sing, “Holy, holy, holy,”
to the Eternal One.

2
Thou art a port protected
from storms that round us rise;
a garden intersected
with streams of paradise;
thou art a cooling fountain
in life’s dry, dreary sand;
from thee, like Pisgah’s mountain,
we view our promised land.

3
A day of sweet reflection,
thou art a day of love,
A day to raise affection
from earth to things above.
New graces ever gaining
from this our day of rest,
We reach the rest remaining
in mansions of the blessed.

The Sabbath (Saturday) is a beautiful day to reflect on God's goodness, after being battered and bruised during, it's good to reflect how He carried us thru. Than you Lord, for fighting our battles , we won the battle.

Well if the truth be told, The Sabbath is from Sunset Friday to Sunset Saturday. What a witness we would give if the sunset times were seen outside in open view so that the passing public would see the daily/weekly changes, would they not be moved to ask questions?

Two more interesting facts

(1) The Sabbath was humanity first full day on planet earth

(2) Even in death The Sabbath was observed by Jesus our Saviour, rest from the earthly work of saving the sinner & it is the only day, humanly speaking Christ did not live on this earth

What could these two important facts mean for us? Well let me encourage you to read, reflect, be refreshed and reminded of the implications of these two facts, Amen!

In a Thai adventist church, when it’s all announced in Thai, we only recognize hymns by its tune. And speedily browsing to find this beautiful hymn. Happy Sabbath!!

This the hymnal for Sabbath Song chagned to reflect true Adventist belief as opposed to the 383 song that is Trinitarian. This Song
was the favorite of the pioneers including EGW.

This is the original SDA Pioneers song loved by all of them including EGW because it reflects the actual belief that should represent all Christians. 383 was changed to 382 by our pioneers to that effect.
