894 – I Chronicles 29:11-13, NIV

“Yours, 0 Lord, is the greatness
and the power and the glory
and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.

“Yours, 0 Lord, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.

“Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.

“In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.

“Now, our God, we give you thanks,
and praise your glorious name.”

895 – Psalm 50:10, 11, 14, TEV

“All the animals in the forest are mime
and the cattle on thousands of hills.
All the wild birds are mine

Let the giving of thanks be your
sacrifice to God,
and give the Almighty all that you promised.”

Each person should give as
he has decided for himself;
there should be no reluctance,
no sense of compulsion;
God loves a cheerful giver.

Many will give honour to God
when they see how humbly you obey him
and how faithfully you confess
the gospel of Christ;
and will thank him for your liberal contribution
to their need and to the general good….
