      Because there is an enemy who has infiltrated the earth, accused God of being a dictator, and tempted mankind to sin. God must let the enemy play out his evil schemes to show its true character. But Jesus Christ has died for our sins and saved us from the enemy. We just need to choose who we will follow and live for Him until he comes and puts and end to the sadness.
