1
Let us break bread together on our knees,
let us break bread together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.
2
Let us drink wine together on our knees,
let us drink wine together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.
3
Let us praise God together on our knees,
let us praise God together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

Great Song!
This tune came to my mind for no particular reason and I realized that this is sun worship. I had to look up the words on the internet to find the title of the song. I then checked to see if it was in our hymnal. I have heard of other problematic hymns contained in the SDA hymnal. This made me think of the priests and elders in the OT who had their backs to the temple and their faces toward the sun.
Apostasy and abomination!!
Pagan sun worshipping!
So sory
Totally agree with Melody Fletcher. We can read this in the Bible in the book of Ezekiel chapter 8. I used to sing this song until I discovered what happened in the Temple (Ez.8) just before its destruction (Ez.9)
I used to sing this song before until I discovered the text of Ezekiel chapter 8 showing people worshipping the sun and giving their back to the temple. This was the cause of the destruction of the temple in the next chapter (Ezek. 9).
It also reminds me of the people kneeling before the priest in the Catholic Church who eat the host, representing the body of Christ and whose round shape reminds the sun.
Sincerely, this song is beautiful, but the lyrics are doubtful.
I sang in a Gospel quartet years ago and we changed the words to say, When I fall on my knees, with my face towards the Risen Son! O Lord have Mercy on me!
All of our hymns need to be checked by the Bible! There should not be any of them that teaches other than the Truth!
My Gospel Quartet changed the words of this song to; Let us break bread together on our knees, when I fall on my knees with my face to the Risen Son, O Lord have Mercy on me!
Christ converted all nature into an index to illustrate His greatness, His goodness, His love. Water, air, light, life—these Christ used to illustrate His work and His character. Pointing to the sun, which had just risen above the Mount of Olives, Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.” [John 8:12.] The sun in the heavens represents the Sun of righteousness. As the sunbeams penetrate to the remotest corners of the earth, so does the light of the Sun of righteousness shine upon very soul. 18LtMs, Lt 232, 1903, par. 36
Pagan sun worship. And you even defend this…
