SONGS
This hymn calls us praise God because He is our Creator and Redeemer.
It presupposes that those who sing it, have a personal experience with the Creator God. Hence we are able to praise Him for His bountiful blessings and faithful love that He has extended to us. We are reminded that we owe everything to Him for His mercies are new every morning – He keeps His breath of live in us throughout the day and night. Moreover, we are reminded that God’s benefits – all of the spiritual blessings that we have been given free of charge due to the great condescension of God the Son, who came and dwell among us in human flesh demand a great deal of praise, which we, finite, sinful flesh fall short of giving God. As the Scripture tells us, “all of our righteousness are filthy rags” – thus the writer of the hymn asks -“Lord what can I impart” when all that we have and hope to be comes from God. As the hymn recommends, let us ask God to let His amazing Grace inspire our hearts with sincere love and commitment to Him, so hat we will be His true representatives in every word, thought and action.
