When did they add a 2nd verse to this song? Been an SDA all my life and never saw a second verse to this song before today. Who added the 2nd verse?
Also the 2nd verse isn’t in all hymnals either.
1995- The Theme for the 1995 General Conference was “United in Christ” or something like that. The verse was added for the GC. Hymnals printed since then will have the second verse.
I cut and pasted the words to a sheet of paper for song service today. When I announced the 2nd verse, I saw puzzled faces in the audience and nobody singing. Someone whispered, “there is no 2nd verse.” Could have been embarrassing. During potluck someone explained like Marilyn that a 2nd verse had been added later. Such a wonderful song!
What would we do if we didn't have this hope? Jesus, I thank you for the hope that I have in You.
Jesus Christ is that Blessed Hope. Father God Please!!! help us to remember that the 2nd coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!!! Amen! Amen! and Amen!
I myself was struck by see a second verse. I grew up singing this song and it came to my mind this morning so I looked it up to sing it. I was surprised to see the second verse.
